The legendary virtuoso Cyprien Katsaris joins the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the new Artistic Director of the Orchestra, internationally acclaimed conductor, Myron Michailidis with a festive programme.
Renowned worldwide for his authoritative interpretations of Franz Liszt, Cyprien Katsaris brings unmatched brilliance, poetry, and electrifying virtuosity to Liszt’s dazzling and exhilarating Hungarian Fantasy and the Fantasy on motifs from Beethoven’s Ruins of Athens for piano and orchestra.
Ideal to precede this fascinating programme, Solon Michaelides’s Dawn at the Parthenon draws an evocative, luminous atmosphere at this magnificent monument.
The second part of the programme features a vibrant tapestry of the most popular dances of the symphonic repertoire from different European countries: spirited dances by Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Johann Strauss II and Nikos Skalkottas offer a rich and festive mosaic of styles and European music traditions.

Cyprien Katsaris (born 1951 in Marseille to Cypriot parents) is one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire and has recorded extensively for labels including Teldec, Sony, and his own Piano 21 label. Known for his interpretations of Liszt, Chopin, Schubert, and Bach, he was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 1999. He has a deep personal connection to Cyprus and performs there regularly.
Myron Michailidis is a performer active on the Cyprus live music and entertainment circuit, appearing in events listed across the island.
