Ragtime Night at Sarah’s Jazz

This Saturday, May 9, we’re hosting an evening of fiery rhythms, swinging melodies, and unstoppable energy with the William Scott Quintet.

Led by William Scott (saxophone), the quintet brings together talented musicians: Aris Constantin (guitar), George El Haba (trumpet), Andreas Teoharus (tuba), and Ulas Oguk (drums and washboard).

Together, they revive the vibrant sound of jazz ragtime, blending tradition and improvisation in a timeless evening of live music.

At the turn of the 20th century, ragtime was the heart of American music—a vibrant style that became the foundation for swing and modern jazz. With its infectious rhythms and playful melodic twists, ragtime captured the spirit of joy and restlessness of the new century, and later gave rise to the improvisational passion of New Orleans jazz.

The William Scott Quintet brings this history to life, paying tribute to the pioneers of jazz while adding a contemporary sound. You can expect rhythms that will have you on your feet, vibrant horn sections, and solos full of improvisation.
