Andreas Krambias Quintet. A Concert of Mediterranean Music
About This Event
This is music in which the traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean meet contemporary sounds, improvisation, and experimentation.
The program centers on compositions by Andreas Krambias, a virtuoso performer on the ud and bouzouki. His music is inspired by Cypriot landscapes, Eastern Mediterranean musical traditions, the maqam system, and the region’s complex rhythms. But this is not merely an attempt to reproduce traditional music—familiar motifs are transformed into a completely new, contemporary sound.
Each composition is like a “photograph” of the Cypriot landscape, transforming what has been seen and experienced into sound. The result is a musical journey without boundaries—from the melodic lyricism of the Mediterranean to unexpected orchestral arrangements and experiments.
Joining Andreas Krambias on stage:
Evros Voskarides — violin
Frixos Antoniades — violin
Dimitris Pichas — double bass
Nora Mauritzson — percussion
Andreas Krambias — oud, compositions
Ticket for one performance — €15
Combined ticket for both performances — €20
Also performing that evening are the Andreas Krambias Quintet and the Idaeon Project—two ensembles with distinct perspectives on the musical heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean. You can see both with a single combined ticket.
