About This Event
As part of the 29th University of Cyprus Cultural Festival, a unique musical evening will take place at the historic Axiothea Mansion. The TratSik String Quartet will take to the stage — a vibrant creative project bringing together four virtuoso musicians and seven of the island’s leading young composers.
The musicians do not simply perform folk music; they take authentic Cypriot folk melodies as their starting point and completely reinterpret them through the lens of contemporary chamber music. Whilst preserving the distinctive character and spirit of the traditional motifs, the composers boldly experiment with rhythm, harmony, form and timbre.
Quartet line-up:
Georgos Hadjigeorgiou — violin
Spiros Spiru — violin
Nicholas Efthimiou — viola
Doros Zisimos — cello
