The Effect: World-Class Drama Premiere at Satiriko Theatre, Nicosia

Satiriko Theatre in Nicosia, Cyprus, presents the Cyprus premiere of "The Effect" by acclaimed British playwright Lucy Prebble, directed by Evita Ioannou. Running from 15 October to 1 November 2026 at the Lower Stage (Basement) of Satiriko Theatre, this award-winning play blends wit, emotion and intellectual depth to explore the boundaries between love, mental health and science.

Connie and Tristan meet while participating in a clinical trial for a new antidepressant. As the experiment progresses, they fall for each other - but is what they feel genuine love, or merely a side effect of the drug? As the medication's influence grows, the line between reality and chemical illusion begins to blur. Written in 2012 for London's National Theatre and winner of the Critics' Circle Best New Play award, "The Effect" is a thought-provoking, humane and often darkly funny work that asks: if science can change our minds, can it change our hearts? 🏆

The performance runs 90 minutes without an interval and is suitable for ages 16 and above. The 29 October performance will be accompanied by English surtitles.
