Babies Are Brought by the Stork: Greek Social Comedy at Anemona Theatre

"Babies Are Brought by the Stork" ("Τα Μωρά τα Φέρνει ο Πελαργός") is a beloved Greek social comedy by Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas, presented in Cyprus by Anemona Theatre in Nicosia for the 2026-2027 theatrical season. The play runs from October 9 to November 4, 2026, with performances in Nicosia, Paphos, Larnaca, and Limassol. Tickets are available online and at the venue.

Set in Thessaloniki in 1943, during the German Occupation, the story follows two childless couples - Vangelis & Victoria and Mimis & Lela - crowded together in an old requisitioned café turned makeshift home. Their desperate longing for a child unfolds against a backdrop of hunger and fear, until the arrival of a hunted Jewish man who has escaped from Auschwitz and seeks refuge upends everything. Drama and comedy intertwine in this deeply human story, celebrating solidarity, love, and the unbreakable power of hope.

Directed by Marinos Xenophontos, the cast features Eirini Konstantinou, Giannis Kokkinos, Kristofer Greko, Elena Cheileti, Gianna Lefkati, Angelos Hatzimichail, and Nikolas Arkadiou.
