Giorgos-Emmanouil Lazaridis in Limassol

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra collaborates for the first time with internationally acclaimed pianist, composer and contemporary cultural figure Giorgos-Emmanouil Lazaridis, under the direction of internationally renowned conductor Zoe Zeniodi. BBC Music Magazine has described Lazaridis as “so distinctive that he cannot be compared to anyone else”, while his performances captivate audiences with their exceptional depth, imagination and virtuosity.

The evening opens with Nestor Taylor's The Archangel's Road, an evocative elegy for strings whose luminous tonal colours and contemplative character create an atmosphere of deep reflection. Through the work's title, the composer pays tribute to Mikis Theodorakis' autobiographical work The Roads of the Archangel.

At the heart of the programme is Saint-Saëns' dazzling Piano Concerto No. 2, a masterpiece that combines poetic lyricism, brilliance and striking virtuosity.

The concert concludes with the irresistible passion, vivid colours and theatricality of Bizet's Carmen Suites Nos. 1 and 2, highlighting the unforgettable melodies and fiery spirit of one of the most beloved operatic works of all time.
