This circular hiking adventure in Machairas Forest, Cyprus is organised by The Vounisious Adventure Club on Sunday, May 17, 2026, starting at 09:00. The specially designed 10km route runs for approximately 4 hours at an easy to intermediate difficulty level, split evenly between country road and forest path, and is led throughout by a certified hiking guide. Participation costs €3 per person with prepayment, and registration is mandatory.
The route passes through some of Machairas' most interesting landmarks: the Filani Old Quarry, the Stone Dice, and the historic Grigoris Afxentiou Hideout — combining natural beauty with a meaningful encounter with Cyprus' recent history.
Recommended equipment: hiking boots (mandatory), hat, long trousers, weather-appropriate clothing, hiking poles, at least 1.5 litres of water, energy bars or electrolytes, and a snack for the break.
