Louisa Papaloizou’s award-winning novel is brought to the stage in an adaptation and production by Maria Kyriaku, bringing to life the world of Ksenia, the Daughter, and the Swede in a poetic space where memory, loss, and the search for identity intersect.
The story unfolds around a mountain in a remote region of Cyprus. The story of the three protagonists unfolds through a narrative that begins in the early 20th century and continues into the early 1970s, shedding light on both the stifling atmosphere of mountainous Cyprus and the archaeological excavations of the Swedish mission in the Soli region during the British colonial period.
Thanks to its contemporary dramaturgy and the participation of twelve talented actors, the production brings to the stage the language, atmosphere, and emotional power of the book, which has received widespread acclaim from readers and critics alike.
Louisa Papaloizou’s book was awarded the 2021 Cyprus State Prize for Fiction, as well as (jointly) the Greek State Prize.
