    About This Event

    Photographer Kadir Kaba will present his new book: “The History of Photography in Cyprus, 1839–1939. The History of a Century”.

    The presentation will be held in English and will feature numerous illustrations.

    Kadir Kaba was born in 1947 in the village of Mora (now Merich), near Nicosia. In 1971, he graduated from ITIA in Ankara with a degree in accounting.

    In 1975, while in London, he began pursuing artistic photography. From 1978 to 1981, he studied photography at the Paddington College School of Photography in London.

    He held his first solo exhibition in London in 1980, followed by six more solo exhibitions. In addition to the international exhibitions “Beyond the Lines” and “Off Limits,” as well as the local group exhibition “Perspectives,” he has participated in numerous group exhibitions and video art projects.

    Kadir Kaba has curated national and international photography exhibitions and has served on the jury of various national and international competitions.

    In 1999, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus awarded him the State Honorary Award for his contribution to the development of Turkish Cypriot photography.

    In 2002, he founded the Gallery of Cypriot Photographers.

    Kadir Kaba is a distinguished researcher and historian of Cypriot photography. For over thirty years, he has worked as a professional photographer, gallery owner, and journalist, collaborating with various newspapers and magazines in London and Cyprus.

    He publishes articles and research on Turkish Cypriot photography in newspapers and specialized publications. From 1998 to 2001, he published the newsletter Fotograf Sanat, dedicated to the art of photography.
