Evening Walk: Discovering Old Nicosia Within the Walls

An easy and enjoyable evening walk through the walled city of Nicosia, Cyprus, organized by the Greek Mountaineering Club of Nicosia on Friday 28 August 2026. Starting from Famagusta Gate at 19:00 (gather at 18:45), the route passes alongside the buffer zone, continues to Paphos Gate, and returns — a flat, accessible walk for all fitness levels with a brief guided tour along the way. 🚶

The walled city of Nicosia is home to an extraordinary concentration of history and culture: Venetian walls, Byzantine churches, Ottoman mosques, colonial landmarks, and world-class museums — all within a short walking distance of one another. This evening walk offers a chance to experience it all at a relaxed pace, as the city cools down after sunset.

After the walk, those who wish to continue the evening are welcome to join an optional dinner in the garden of Chrysaliniotissa Church. Reservations required — contact Andreas in advance.
