A march to raise awareness of leukaemia

The Cyprus Leukaemia Association ‘Life’ is organising a march on Saturday 26 September, with the aim of raising public awareness and providing practical support to patients and their families.
The march is being held to mark World Leukaemia Awareness Month.

The event will take place on Saturday, 26 September 2026, at 6.00 pm. The route will start and finish at Eleftherias Square. The organisers invite anyone who wishes to join the event to help raise awareness of leukaemia and other haematological disorders.

The aim of the march is to highlight the needs of patients and their families, and to promote the values of solidarity, hope and practical support for those battling the disease.

As part of the event, Nicosia City Hall will be illuminated in orange – the colour symbolising leukaemia awareness. A symbolic ceremony will also take place: participants will light candles of remembrance and hope to honour the memory of those who have passed away and to support those who continue to fight.

On behalf of the Mayor of Nicosia, the Deputy Mayor, Mr Chrysanthos Fakas, will attend the event; Ms Savia Orfanidou, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, will also be present.
