About Ancient Kourion Theatre
The Ancient Theatre of Kourion is a restored Greco-Roman amphitheatre perched on a dramatic clifftop overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, located within the Kourion Archaeological Site near Episkopi, 16 km west of Limassol. Originally built in the 2nd century BC with a capacity of 3,500 spectators, the theatre is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and stunning coastal backdrop. During the summer season it serves as one of Cyprus's premier open-air performance venues, hosting the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama, classical music concerts, theatrical productions, Shakespeare plays, and cultural festivals. Part of one of the island's most important archaeological parks, which also includes Roman mosaics, the House of Eustolios, and the nearby Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates. Partially wheelchair accessible with on-site parking.
