City Plaza Nicosia (Abandoned Mall)

Nicosia's first European-style mall, completed in December 1989 on Makarios Avenue. Once the premier shopping destination of the capital, it gradually emptied as out-of-town malls drew retailers away. Today largely abandoned — escalators non-operational, most floors derelict — it has found a second life as one of Nicosia's most talked-about underground event locations. Promoters like Luna Morada have transformed its ghostly retail floors into immersive rave and house music events, drawing hundreds of attendees who come specifically for the apocalyptic aesthetic of a functioning party inside a frozen-in-time dead mall. Age 21+ for most events.
