About This Event
On October 17, the Center for Visual Arts and Research (CVAR) in Nicosia will host an unusual educational program for children titled “The Last Queen of Cyprus,” dedicated to Catherine Cornaro—the last queen of Cyprus.
This time, children are invited to look at history not only through the eyes of the main characters, but also through the eyes of people who usually go unnoticed.
The starting point will be paintings from the museum’s collection. Children will carefully examine the images, look for characters in the background, and pay attention to their clothing, facial expressions, gestures, and surrounding details.
Through observation games and creative activities, participants will try to interpret the paintings like real little historians and create their own stories about people who lived in Cyprus many centuries ago.
In this way, the paintings will become a unique window into the past, through which children can learn more about daily life, customs, and society in Cyprus during the time of Catherine Cornaro.
